Winamp has been and is still on of the most downloaded mp3 players on the internet. However, today Winamp does much more than just play mp3s - it supports a wide number of audio and video formats. But even so it has managed to be small and fast. Also the plug-in features of Winamp has one of it forces - many plug-ins exists both for audio (mixing, etc.) and visual effects. Streaming music from SHOUTcast is also part of making Winamp a great piece of software.
