Mono is an open source implementation of the Microsoft .NET Framework. It most powerful feature is that Mono allow the execution of .NET application on almost any platform - including (but not limited to) Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris. It contains compilers for C# and Visual Basic.NET among others. Mono supports the .NET open source environment.
