ArcGIS is a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for your desktop that comes with ArcEditor software, ArcGIS help system and Esri Data and Maps. You'll have access to the ArcGIS Desktop Resource Center that includes downloads, online content, scripts and more.
ArcGIS is an excellent program for groups, enabling many people to modify and edit data at the same time without affecting each others' work. There's no need to take data offline to work on it nor does it create copies that have to be organized, moved around or deleted because several people are working on the same thing.
A special feature of ArcGIS makes use of validations and topology rules to build spatial relationships between features. You can modify the database over a period of time and evaluate data using "what if" scenarios.
ArcGIS automatically locates and fixes errors in line with the behaviors you set in place for your geodatabase. This means your data will maintain high quality and integrity without all the labor-intensive quality control you might have to do otherwise. In addition, ArcGIS provides COGO editing tools, conflict detection and construction and resolution tools that help automate editing.
You can choose from three different license levels, depending on the features you and your organization needs. As you upgrade you unlock different tools, features and functions.
